2026 Election: ‘I Will Cruise To Victory’ – Adeleke Declares Ahead Of Guber Poll
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed confidence that the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level will not affect his second-term ambition, declaring that he is already “cruising to victory” ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election.
Adeleke made the declaration in a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, assuring party members that the lingering disagreements within the PDP would soon be resolved.
The governor described the crisis at the national level as a “family affair” and urged members to remain united, focused, and steadfast ahead of the next election.
Adeleke stated, “I urge all members of our party, the PDP, to remain calm and be steadfast. We are cruising to victory next year and we must remain committed to ensuring that we rebuild this party for a renewed landslide victory.”
He added that key stakeholders at the national level were already working behind the scenes to address the internal wrangling and restore stability to the opposition party.
“The ongoing disagreement within the party at the national level is a family affair and I want to assure all members both at the state and national levels that it will soon be resolved.
“All the stakeholders have the party’s progress and success at heart and are looking for ways to end the crisis as soon as possible,” he noted.
Adeleke directed PDP leaders across local governments and wards in Osun to begin massive mobilisation in preparation for the 2026 polls, stressing that the PDP remained “the strongest force” in the state.
“I hereby direct all party leaders across wards and local governments to begin massive mobilisation for our party ahead of the 2026 governorship election. We are the party to beat, and our party will come out stronger and better,” he said.
The governor’s latest statement comes a week after he appeared before the PDP Governorship Screening Committee in Abuja, where he declared that no opponent could defeat him in the next election.
He said, “The people of Osun will choose me again because I have performed excellently. I introduced what I call fact-checking; anyone can go back and verify what is happening in Osun State. We are in a technology-driven era, you can simply Google it and confirm that we are doing well.”
Adeleke, who came to power after defeating former Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the 2022 election, said his administration’s achievements in less than two years had solidified his popularity across the state.
“I am very confident that I will win. If I could defeat an incumbent before, now that I am the governor, it will be even easier. In less than two years, we have achieved unprecedented progress in Osun State. I am so confident nobody can defeat us,” he declared.
