Regina Daniels-Nwoko Saga: Basketmouth Calls for Calm, Tells Senator to Act His Age
Comedian and actor Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has urged couples to stop taking their marital disputes to social media, warning that doing so could have long-term emotional consequences for their children.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Basketmouth, who has previously confirmed the end of his own marriage, said that while disagreements in families are normal, turning them into online spectacles is harmful.
“Families have had problems since the beginning of time,” he said.
“I also had issues in my marriage, but I never brought them online to share details.”
The comedian said many estranged couples fail to consider the future impact of their online disclosures on their children.
He warned that sensitive information shared during emotional moments could later become “weapons” used against the children by peers.
“They forget that their children will grow up and see these things online. Their children’s friends might use these details against them and damage their emotional well-being,” he said.
He stressed that once such content finds its way to the internet, the family loses control over how it is shared, interpreted or weaponised.
Basketmouth also addressed the ongoing public feud between actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, which has drawn widespread attention.
In a direct message to the senator, he said: “Senator, you are an elder. If nobody will tell you, I will. Every day this matter gets worse. Handle it with the maturity expected of your office.”
The comedian urged both parties to prioritise privacy and resolve their issues away from public glare.
His remarks have sparked conversations online, with many social media users agreeing that the trend of sharing intimate marital problems publicly has become excessive.
Commenters echoed Basketmouth’s caution, noting that the digital age has made it easy for family disputes to spread quickly, often with lasting consequences.
Basketmouth’s message adds to growing calls for couples, especially public figures, to exercise restraint and protect their families from unnecessary exposure.
