ADC Inaugurates Transition Committee in Kaduna

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has inaugurated a transition committee to strengthen its political structures and fill vacant positions across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas and 255 wards.

The committee, inaugurated at the party’s state secretariat, was given a 14-day mandate to complete its assignment and submit a comprehensive report to the state leadership.

The move, the party said, was part of its renewed efforts to restructure and expand its base ahead of future political activities.

The committee is chaired by Philimon Kure of ADC (Zone 3), with Zulaihat Abdul Kareem of ADC (Zone 1) serving as Deputy Chairperson and Ibrahim Musa of ADC (Zone 2) as Secretary. Other members include Muktar Isa Hazo (SDP, Zone 1), Muhammed Dauda Haskiya (SDP, Zone 1), Kabiru Ajuji (APC, Zone 1), Ibrahim Adamu Sarki (PDP, Zone 2), Nazifi Jibrin Muhammad (PDP, Zone 2), Haruna Dogo Mabo (NNPP, Zone 2), Isah Dan Maryam (PRP, Zone 2), Isaac Auta Zankai (SDP), Wilson Iliya Yange (PDP), and Simon Na’Allah (LP).

The committee has been tasked with auditing leadership structures, ensuring inclusivity, and realigning the party’s local government and ward structures with the 2022 INEC-supervised ADC Congress.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the State Chairman of the party, Elder Patrick Ambut, charged the committee members to carry out their duties with diligence and transparency.

He cited Article 3.4 of the ADC Transitional Operation Guidelines, which empowers the committee to make the party more open and foster a sense of belonging among members.

“The challenge is enormous and demanding, and it requires dedication, justice, and fairness,” Ambut said. He emphasised that the committee must operate in line with the core principles of the ADC and ensure every appointment reflects balance and fairness.

Ambut also directed the committee to ensure that appointments into vacant positions reflect a 40:60 ratio between the ADC and coalition partners, pending the ratification of expelled members by the National Working Committee.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Committee, Philimon Kure, described the assignment as a collective responsibility of all stakeholders to rebuild the ADC into a stronger and more inclusive political force.

“The mandates given to us are explicit, and we take them seriously. This is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders to build a stronger ADC that reflects the interests of every member,” Kure said.

He assured the party leadership that the committee would discharge its duties within the stipulated timeframe and work to unite members for the party’s progress.

The inauguration comes as part of a broader restructuring drive within the ADC, which has faced internal challenges following coalition realignments after the 2023 general elections.

The Kaduna chapter has been at the forefront of rebuilding efforts, with emphasis on leadership audits, reconciliation of aggrieved members, and strengthening grassroots participation.

Party leaders believe the transition committee will play a key role in restoring unity, transparency, and organisational discipline across the state, positioning the ADC for stronger performance in upcoming elections.
