BREAKING: Confusion As reports claim Rev. Uma Ukpai is dead

Confusion has gripped the Christian community and social media platforms following unconfirmed reports that renowned evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Uma Ukpai, has passed away.
The speculation, which spread rapidly on Sunday, originated from several cryptic posts made by clergy and religious pages online, prompting an outpouring of emotional tributes from admirers and followers across the country.
The first wave of reports began after Prophet Joel Ogebe posted a message on X (formerly Twitter), hinting at the death of a prominent Christian figure but without naming anyone directly.
“A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo,” Ogebe wrote.
His message, however, immediately triggered speculation among users, with many linking the post to Rev. Ukpai, whose ministry is headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Moments later, a popular Christian media platform, Church Gist, amplified the rumours by sharing a tribute post on Facebook, claiming the revered evangelist had died.
“A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR,” the post read.

The post sparked thousands of reactions within hours, with many expressing grief, admiration, and disbelief. Some users, however, urged caution, demanding an official statement from the Ukpai family or the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association before drawing conclusions.
As of the time of filing this report, no official confirmation has been released by his family or ministry.
Rev. Uma Ukpai, known for his fiery preaching and decades-long evangelistic crusades, is one of Nigeria’s most respected Christian leaders.
He founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a non-denominational ministry with a strong focus on evangelism, healing, and national revival.
Ukpai, whose ministry has spanned several decades, is celebrated for his powerful sermons, interdenominational outreach programs, and commitment to uniting Christians across Nigeria and beyond.
While the news remains unverified, tributes have continued to pour in from admirers, church members, and public figures who described the evangelist as a “true servant of God” and “spiritual father to many.”
A user on Facebook wrote, “If this is true, Nigeria has lost one of her greatest men of God. His messages touched generations.”
Another added, “Rev. Uma Ukpai’s life was a blessing to millions. We pray this news is not true.”
As of Monday morning, calls and messages sent to officials of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association had yet to be returned.
The absence of an official statement has kept the speculation alive, with many hoping that the reports might turn out to be false.
