FG Opens 2025/2026 Student Loan Application Portal [See Details]

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the official opening of its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, set to run from Thursday, October 23, 2025, to Saturday, January 31, 2026.

In a statement signed by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND expressed appreciation to tertiary institutions nationwide for their cooperation and urged them to strengthen collaboration to ensure a smooth and inclusive loan process for all eligible students.

The Fund reminded institutions to update and upload verified records of both returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal, stressing that the step is crucial for applicants to access and benefit from the loan scheme.

“Institutions are reminded to update and upload verified records of both returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal, as this step is essential for students to successfully apply and benefit from the scheme,” the statement read.

According to the Fund, eligible applicants include both returning and newly admitted students of accredited tertiary institutions across the country.

For fresh students, applications can be made using either their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number in place of a Matriculation Number.

NELFUND also appealed to institutions to exercise understanding in enforcing registration and tuition fee payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement.

“Institutions are encouraged to show understanding in enforcing registration and fee payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement,” the Fund advised.

The agency noted that students whose academic sessions have not yet commenced should formally write to NELFUND with their approved academic calendar to allow for scheduling flexibility in loan processing.

It also urged institutions to adopt temporary registration measures for students whose loan applications are being processed, ensuring that no student is denied access to education due to financial hardship.
