Focus on Self-Development Before Marriage, actor Uzor Arukwe Tells Ladies

Popular Nollywood actor, Uzor Arukwe, has urged single women to focus on self-development and build value for themselves before dreaming of marrying a wealthy or influential man.

Arukwe gave the advice while reacting to the social media frenzy surrounding his character Odogwu, a wealthy, loving partner in the romantic drama Love In Every World 2.

The actor said many fans were idolising the character as the “ideal man” without understanding the backstory behind his relationship with Chioma, the female lead played by reality star Bambam.

“While we are basking in our delulu, it’s important to remember that Odogwu saw Chioma as a valuable woman before throwing his full weight to support her,” he wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Arukwe noted that the billionaire character did not fall in love simply because of money or beauty but because Chioma had already established herself as an industrious woman.

“He didn’t even need to ask what she brings to the table because it was clear she’s an industrious woman,” he explained.

The actor said Love In Every World 2 portrays how mutual respect, independence, and self-worth are essential foundations for a lasting relationship.

According to him, Odogwu’s affection for Chioma stemmed from recognising her value, not from pity or dominance.

Arukwe advised young women to strive for personal growth and financial independence rather than focusing solely on finding a rich partner.

“As a woman, build value for yourself first, and your Odogwu will locate you to become your helpmate that makes everything easier to handle,” he said.

He emphasised that genuine love thrives when both partners contribute value — emotionally, intellectually, and economically.

Following his post, several social media users applauded the actor for using his platform to promote a message of self-worth and empowerment.

Some fans agreed that many women romanticise wealth without realising the importance of self-growth and partnership balance.

Others praised Arukwe for separating fiction from reality, saying his remarks helped clarify the deeper message behind the film’s storyline.
