Fubara Visits Tinubu At Aso Villa After Rivers Reinstatement

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday evening paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It was the governor’s first appearance at the Villa since his reinstatement last week, following the lifting of the six-month emergency rule imposed on Rivers State by the President.
Channels Television reported that Fubara arrived at the Villa at about 6:20 p.m. and proceeded straight to the President’s office. He was said to have come alone.
Although the exact purpose of the visit was not disclosed as of press time, sources suggested it may not be unconnected to his reinstatement and ongoing efforts to consolidate peace in the state.
Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly had been suspended from office on March 18, 2025, after political unrest in Rivers prompted Tinubu to declare emergency rule.
The President, however, ended the emergency on September 17, restoring democratic governance in the oil-rich state.
In his statewide broadcast shortly after his return, Fubara expressed deep appreciation to the President for what he described as his “fatherly intervention” in the Rivers political crisis.

“I remain eternally grateful to Mr President for his decisive actions and kindness in restoring peace and stability to our dear state,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fubara announced via his official X handle that he hosted members of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Board and Management on a courtesy visit earlier on Monday.
He wrote: “Today, I hosted members of the Nigerian Ports Authority Board and Management on a courtesy visit.
“I urged the NPA team to optimise the Port Harcourt and Onne Ports to create more jobs, increase economic activity and strengthen Rivers State’s position in Nigeria’s ease of doing business ranking.”
Observers believe Monday’s Villa visit signals Fubara’s readiness to rebuild ties with the Presidency as he resumes full governance duties in Rivers after months of political turbulence.
