Insecurity: Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Suspends Academic Activities
The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has suspended all academic activities with immediate effect, following a directive by the Bauchi State Government ordering the closure of all schools across the state due to escalating insecurity.
The suspension was disclosed in an internal memo issued on Monday by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Safiyo Yila, who signed on behalf of the Registrar.
According to the memo addressed to all staff and students, the institution’s action complies with the state government’s announcement directing the shutdown of primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions amid rising security threats.
The memo read, “Sequel to the public announcement by the Bauchi State Government, which directed the closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions within the state due to security concerns, I am directed to inform you that all academic activities have been suspended with immediate effect.”
Yila said the decision became necessary to ensure the safety of both staff and students.
The school administration stated that academic activities would resume at a later date, which will be communicated in due course once the security situation improves.
The memo further instructed heads of departments to ensure full compliance with the directive, noting that the suspension is a precautionary measure to safeguard lives within the polytechnic community.
The Bauchi State Government had earlier announced the closure of all educational institutions across the state due to worsening insecurity.
The suspension at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi forms part of wider efforts to manage the situation and prevent further risks to students, teachers, and residents.
Academic activities will remain on hold until the government gives further directives.
