Kwara, Kebbi Attacks: Toyin Abraham Joins Public Outcry Over Insecurity In Nigeria

Popular Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has condemned the escalating insecurity across the country, expressing deep distress over the recent terror attack in Kwara State and the abduction of schoolchildren in Kebbi.

Her reaction follows Tuesday’s deadly assault on Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, where three people were killed and several worshippers kidnapped. The incident occurred just hours after 25 female students were abducted from a secondary school in Kebbi.

The attacks have sparked widespread outrage, with some celebrities openly calling for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation over what they described as the government’s failure to protect citizens.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the actress voiced the emotional toll the attacks have taken on Nigerians, especially mothers.

“How do we move past the heaviness in our hearts after watching the heartbreaking video of the attack in Kwara?” she asked.

“How does any mother close her eyes at night knowing that 25 young girls have been stolen from their families, girls who should be safe, laughing, learning, dreaming?”

She described the rising wave of violence as deeply unsettling and traumatic.

“As mothers, we carry a kind of fear that sits deep in our bones. When we hear of such violence, it is not just news to us, it is a wound.”

‘Terrorists Are Attacking the Idea of Safety and Peace’

Abraham warned that terrorism and religious extremism are tearing communities apart, attacking not only villages but the very foundation of peace and childhood.

“Terrorism and religious extremism are tearing at the fabric of our communities, changing the way people live, love, pray, and hope,” she wrote.

“These fanatics and terrorists are not just attacking villages, they are attacking the very idea of safety, childhood, and peace.”

The actress ended her post with questions that reflect the fears of many citizens.

“So how do we confront a world where innocent souls are kidnapped and killed in the name of hatred? How do we protect our children when cruelty seems to move without fear or consequence?”
