Nigerian Army Opens Portal for 2026 Short Service Recruitment

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of online applications for the 2026 Short Service Combatant (SSC) Course 49, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for enlistment into its combat and combat support arms.

The announcement was made in a brief statement posted on the Army’s official Facebook page on Thursday, describing the exercise as a rare opportunity for patriotic citizens to serve their nation.

“This exercise presents a unique opportunity for eligible Nigerians to serve their fatherland in the Combat Arms and Combat Support Arms of the Nigerian Army,” the statement read.

In its message, the Army encouraged Nigerians who meet the criteria to seize the opportunity to serve the country with patriotism and integrity.

“Serve your fatherland with honour and courage,” the post added, reinforcing the service’s commitment to recruiting competent and disciplined officers for national defence.

The Short Service Combatant Course is a regular recruitment programme designed to commission qualified candidates into the Nigerian Army for a defined period, after which they may be considered for conversion to permanent commission based on performance and need.
