Plateau Minister: Tinubu Seeks Replacement Of Yilwatda

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro as a new minister from Plateau State, following the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, to National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yilwatda, who hails from Plateau State, formally assumed his new role at the weekend, creating a ministerial vacancy for the state in the Federal Executive Council.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who announced the development in a statement on Tuesday, said the nomination is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
“President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State to the Senate for confirmation as minister,” Onanuga stated.
He added that the President’s decision aligns with the constitutional requirement for every state to have representation in the Federal Executive Council.
Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro was born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to the statement, Doro has over two decades of multidisciplinary experience across clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
He is widely regarded as a public health advocate with a track record of service delivery and stakeholder collaboration in healthcare policy and community development.
The nomination comes amid President Tinubu’s continued effort to reconstitute his cabinet following recent political appointments and realignments within the APC leadership.
Once confirmed by the Senate, Doro is expected to fill the Plateau State ministerial slot and join the cabinet as part of the administration’s push to strengthen governance and implement the Renewed Hope Agenda.
