Police Nab Six Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Three Victims in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three abducted victims following a coordinated operation in Euga village, Toro Local Government Area of the state.

The rescue followed a distress call received by police operatives on September 29, 2025, from a resident who reported that gunmen had stormed the community and abducted three men identified as Idi Umar, Idi Lawan, and Musa Lawal.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, said the prompt response of officers from multiple divisions led to the successful operation.

“Upon receiving the report, a coordinated response involving the Toro Area Command, Toro Division, and Nabordo Division, alongside local security partners, was immediately activated,” Wakil stated.

He explained that the joint team tracked the suspects to the outskirts of the village and engaged them in what he described as a “professional operation” that resulted in the safe rescue of the victims without any injuries.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers for their swift and coordinated action, which he said demonstrated the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crimes across Bauchi State.

He urged residents to remain security-conscious and continue sharing credible information that could help prevent criminal activities in their communities.

“The safety of the people remains our top priority. We encourage the public to report suspicious movements and assist security agencies in maintaining peace and order,” the CP said.

Residents of Euga community reportedly expressed relief and gratitude to the police for their quick intervention, which they said prevented a repeat of previous abduction cases in the area.

A community leader who spoke to The Punch under anonymity said, “This is the first time in a while that victims were rescued without paying ransom. We are grateful to the police for acting swiftly.”
