Taraba LP inaugurates caretaker committee after executive tenure ends

The Taraba State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has inaugurated a caretaker committee to pilot the party’s affairs following the expiration of the tenure of its previous executives.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday at the party’s state secretariat in Jalingo, attracted party leaders, members, and supporters from across the state.

Speaking at the event, the outgoing chairperson, Dr (Mrs) Esther Johnson Gulmu, who now serves as the Deputy National Vice Chairman, North-East, described the exercise as more than a mere change of leadership.

She said the inauguration marked “a moment of reflection, gratitude, and peaceful transition of leadership,” adding that it reaffirms the party’s commitment to democratic ideals and internal cohesion.

In his acceptance speech, the new caretaker chairman, Rev. Simon Zubairu, expressed gratitude to the party’s national leadership for the confidence reposed in his team.

He pledged to justify the trust, promising to lead with integrity and inclusiveness.

“We will strengthen the structures of the Labour Party in Taraba and ensure that unity and progress remain our watchwords,” he said.
