Tinubu Appoints Olumode Adeyemi As New Federal Fire Service Boss

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, with effect from August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), on behalf of the President.

According to the CDCFIB, the appointment follows the scheduled retirement of the incumbent Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who turns 60 on August 13, 2025, the mandatory retirement age in the civil service.

“This appointment follows the imminent retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, on August 13, 2025, upon attaining the age of 60,” the statement noted.

The Board hailed Jaji for his “remarkable contributions” to the development of the Federal Fire Service and praised his “dedication and commitment” throughout his tenure.

The new appointee, Olumode, was described as a seasoned officer who rose through the ranks after transferring from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service. Before his appointment, he was Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service headquarters.

“In the course of his career, the Officer has attended and passed all mandatory in-service trainings, command courses as well as other courses within and outside the country,” the CDCFIB said.

Olumode is also affiliated with several professional bodies, including -The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, The Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

His appointment is expected to consolidate ongoing reforms within the Fire Service and ensure continuity in leadership as the Service expands its reach across the federation.
