We’ll Defeat Big Parties Even Without Governors – ADC Vice Chairman
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it will emerge as a dominant force in the 2027 general elections, even though the party currently has no serving governor.
The party’s National Vice Chairman, Senator Nazif Gamawa, stated this on Monday while speaking with journalists in Bauchi.
Gamawa, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisted that the absence of governors does not weaken the party’s chances, recalling that former President Muhammadu Buhari once defeated an incumbent president without the support of governors.
“The people have already believed that a new political movement is the option, so ADC is the saviour. We are giving them one blow,” he said.
Gamawa dismissed claims of internal challenges within the ADC, urging politicians who feel betrayed in their current parties to defect to the movement.
He said the party remains open to all Nigerians dissatisfied with the political status quo.
The ADC chieftain criticised major political parties for selling nomination forms at outrageous prices, saying the ADC would not adopt such a practice.
“We are not going to be like them. We will give a chance to every well-meaning Nigerian,” he said.
Gamawa added that the party leadership was confident in its ability to reposition the ADC for victory in 2027.
He assured that the ADC, if elected into power, would prioritise fairness and justice, noting that governance in Nigeria had for too long been dominated by a few individuals at the expense of the people.
Gamawa urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the forthcoming elections.
He warned that Nigeria would continue to suffer from poor governance if citizens fail to make the right electoral choices.
He added that the ADC was committed to mentoring young Nigerians interested in political participation and leadership, saying the party intends to build a new generation of leaders.
