Wike: We’ll Spend 20 Days Showcasing Tinubu’s Achievements in Education
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to dedicate 20 days to highlight and commission key achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the education sector across the territory.
Wike disclosed this on Thursday during the commissioning of newly completed engineering infrastructure in Wuye District, Abuja.
Addressing guests at the event, the former Rivers State governor said the initiative was designed to counter misinformation and criticisms from “social media presidents” who often downplay the administration’s progress.
“We will take 20 days to show Nigerians, to show social media presidents what we have done in the education sector. We are not going to rush. We are going to shock them with what we have done,” Wike declared.
The minister added that the 20-day showcase would involve commissioning of newly built schools, renovated classrooms, and completed educational infrastructure across different parts of the FCT.
Wike stressed that President Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated commitment not only to roads and bridges but also to the transformation of the education sector within the capital city.
“President Tinubu’s administration is not only concentrating on infrastructure in the FCT, in terms of roads and bridges, but also on improving the education sector,” he said.
He explained that the government had completed several projects that directly benefit students and teachers, reflecting Tinubu’s broader vision for inclusive development.
Wike noted that after the current round of project inaugurations, his ministry would shift full attention to the education sector.
“I have told the Chief of Staff that we are going to end our flag-off and commissioning, at least for now. Twenty days is not two days, so we will take a rest and come back to concentrate on education,” the minister said.
According to him, the education-focused phase will spotlight classroom upgrades, construction of new school facilities, and rehabilitation of long-neglected institutions across the territory.
Since assuming office in August 2023, Wike has embarked on an aggressive infrastructure drive — commissioning roads, bridges, and housing projects — in a bid to reposition Abuja as a model capital city.
His frequent media engagements and on-site inspections have drawn both praise for his visible results and criticism for his blunt remarks against political opponents.
The minister, however, maintains that his approach is results-driven and in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
