World Mourns as Iconic Musician Jimmy Cliff Passes On
Internationally celebrated reggae star and actor, James Chambers, popularly known as Jimmy Cliff, has died.
The announcement was made in a heartfelt note posted on his official social media pages, stating that the music legend passed away “due to a seizure followed by pneumonia.”
In the emotional statement shared by his wife, she wrote: “It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia.”
She extended deep appreciation to everyone who supported the reggae icon throughout his long and illustrious career.
“I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists and coworkers who have shared his journey with him.
To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career. He really appreciated every fan for their love,” she added.
The statement highlighted Cliff’s enduring connection with his fans and the global community that embraced his music for decades.
Expressing gratitude to the medical professionals who cared for the reggae legend, his wife noted: “I also wanted to thank Dr. Couceyro and the whole medical staff, as they have been extremely supportive and helpful during this difficult process.”
She ended the message with a touching farewell: “Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes.”
The family further appealed to the public to respect their privacy as they mourn.
“I hope you all can respect our privacy during these hard times. Further information will be provided at a later date,” the family noted.
