Your Father Disowned You - APC Chieftain Fires Back at Wike

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and political ally of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has responded to recent comments made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, describing them as “fictional narratives” aimed at rewriting history and discrediting those who helped him rise politically.

Wike, during a recent appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, had claimed he came from a wealthy family and used to attend school in his own car, adding that he did not share the same background as his predecessor, Amaechi.

He also alleged that Dame Judith Amaechi, wife of the former Rivers governor, received ₦4 million monthly for training women through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

In a statement released over the weekend and made available to journalists, Eze dismissed Wike’s claims as “falsehoods and self-denial” aimed at masking his real background.

“Trying to claim how rich his father was when poverty that radiated his family was as strong as the direct ray of sun, is denying his background,” Eze said.

He continued, “His father, if alive, would be disappointed in his act of self-denial to justify his lavish living with public funds. It is known that Wike’s education was only possible through the intervention of his friend’s father.”

Eze did not mince words in describing Wike’s political history, insisting that the FCT Minister’s rise to prominence was orchestrated by Amaechi, whom he now openly criticizes.

“Was it Wike that made himself Local Government Chairman? Was it Wike that nominated himself as Minister during the Jonathan administration? No. It was Amaechi who picked him from obscurity and made him politically relevant,” he said.

He accused Wike of biting the fingers that fed him and denying “everyone who played a part in lifting him from abject poverty.”

Eze also defended Dame Judith Amaechi, who was accused by Wike of receiving questionable funds from the NDDC. He dismissed the allegations as baseless and launched a blistering counterattack on the credibility of Wike and his own household.

“In his futile attempt to castigate Amaechi’s wife, one is forced to ask whether Wike’s own wife is fit for the exalted position of a Judge, given that sleeping daily in the same bed with a character like Wike would certainly affect her sense of judgment,” Eze remarked.

He added that the judiciary is a noble institution, and its image must not be tainted by association with political controversies.

The APC stalwart went further to reflect on what he described as Amaechi’s “greatest political error”—the decision to mentor and empower Wike.

“Amaechi made the biggest mistake of his career by making Wike a Local Government Chairman, appointing him as Chief of Staff, and later recommending him for ministerial appointment,” he said.

He added that as Governor, Wike’s only legacy was the “destruction of key policies and institutions” put in place by Amaechi, including far-reaching agricultural and educational programmes.

“The scholarship scheme and agricultural revolution initiated by Amaechi to position Rivers State for national relevance were all dismantled by Wike, leaving the state in regression.”

Eze concluded by saying Wike’s political approach is driven more by personal vendettas than developmental vision, alleging that the Minister remains obsessed with dismantling everything linked to Amaechi.

“Wike is driven by vengeance, not leadership. He sees every structure Amaechi built as something to destroy, not sustain,” he said.

As the political rivalry between the two Rivers heavyweights deepens, observers believe the latest war of words may only signal the beginning of more turbulence within the APC and Rivers State’s political landscape.
