2027: Don’t Dare Rig Abia Election – Alex Otti Warns Politicians

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a stern warning to politicians allegedly plotting to manipulate the 2027 governorship election, declaring that any such attempt would fail.
Otti stated that the outcome of the next election in the state would not be determined by political scheming but by the will of God and the people.
The governor made the statement on Thursday during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, held at the Government House, Umuahia. A video of the event was published on Channels Television’s YouTube page.
While responding to a question concerning comments reportedly made by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who allegedly said the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia in 2027, Otti warned against plans to subvert the electoral process.
“I have heard that some people around him say, ‘Oh, they must take over this state, they must write results.’ But the only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time,” he said.

The governor added pointedly: “You know what it is? Their will.”
Governor Otti, who was elected under the platform of the Labour Party, said he had no issues with opposition figures showing interest in the governorship position. However, he warned that anyone hoping to rig the process would face stiff resistance and consequences.
“I have no problem with anyone contesting, but those plotting to rig the election should be ready to face the consequences,” he said.
Otti’s remarks come amid early political manoeuvrings ahead of the 2027 election. The governor made history in 2023 by ending over two decades of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dominance in the state.
Since assuming office, he has consistently maintained that his administration would uphold transparency, accountability, and the democratic will of Abians.
