BREAKING: Peter Obi, Alex Otti Calls For Labour Party NEC Meeting

Two prominent leaders of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for 2023, and Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, have called for a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

This NEC meeting is set to take place in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

A notice issued by Obi and Otti indicates that the NEC meeting will be followed by a concurrent interactive town hall session with key stakeholders and other party organs at the Transcorp Hilton.

The notice was signed by Ibrahim Umar, the spokesperson for the POMR, and sent to DAILY POST.

Umar stated that the stakeholders invited to the meeting include the vice presidential candidate from the 2023 election, current and former senators, as well as senatorial candidates from the Labour Party in the 2023 election, and current and former members of the House of Representatives along with LP House of Representatives candidates from the same election.

Additionally, all members of the National Caretaker Committee and NTC, former governorship candidates who remain with the party, representatives from the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and all members of the previous LP National Working Committee are expected to attend.

This meeting follows last week’s Supreme Court decision that dissolved the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee.
