BREAKING: National Power Grid Collapse Again, 2nd Time In 24 Hours

The national grid in Nigeria has failed for a second time in less than 24 hours, following its first failure just before midnight.

This second failure took place at around 9:17 a.m. on Tuesday, causing widespread power cuts across various regions of the nation.

In response to the system failure, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) posted on social media, stating: “Dear Valued Customer, Kindly be informed there was a system collapse at 09:17hrs which has resulted to a loss of power supply across our network.

“We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as power supply is restored.”

It is worth noting that Nigeria has just experienced second incident of a power grid collapsing in under a day.

Upon reviewing the website of the Independent Service Operator (ISO), a separate entity within the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) responsible for overseeing the movement of electricity across the grid, it was revealed that the flow of electricity across the grid fell to zero megawatts by 7pm on Monday, indicating that there was no electricity being sent from the power plants to the 11 electricity distribution companies across the nation.

This decrease was from a peak of 3,566 megawatts around 6pm.
