Defection: 3 PDP Senators Meet Tinubu In Aso Villa

On Friday, three Senators on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Kebbi State, who are reportedly finalizing their plans to switch allegiance to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), convened with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
The Senators, prominent figures within the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP)—Senator Adamu Aliero of Kebbi Central, Senator Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi of Kebbi North, and Senator Garba Maidoki of Kebbi South—were escorted to the President’s office for a private meeting that also included APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi State Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris, and Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, among other party stakeholders.
This development is part of a broader trend of defections to the ruling APC from the opposition PDP. Recently, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori surprised the nation by defecting to the APC along with his supporters.
This situation has raised concerns about the potential emergence of a one-party state, a notion that the presidency has denied.
