2027 Election: PDP Already Dead – Ganduje Replies Lamido

Former Governor of Kano State and the incumbent National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has categorically rejected allegations regarding his potential defection to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ganduje asserted that the PDP is no longer viable, while the APC is preparing for a significant triumph in the upcoming 2027 elections.
This statement was made in reaction to former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido’s assertion that the APC is on the verge of collapse, prompting former PDP members, including himself, to consider a return.
Lamido had on Sunday said, “I’m confident that all those who left the PDP will return, including Ganduje, because very soon, the APC will burst and split into factions, having accommodated people with different mindsets.
“I said it, and I repeat: within six months, all those who defected to the APC will come back, and the PDP will rise with full force to wrest power in 2027.”
In a statement made in Abuja on Monday by his Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, the APC National Chairman rejected the assertion as baseless and illogical.
Ganduje asserted that rather than rejoining the PDP, it is Lamido who will soon become a member of the APC. He emphasized that he has no intention of leaving the ruling party for what he described as a ‘declining opposition.’

Ganduje expressed his pride in his position as the APC leader and reiterated his dedication to enhancing internal democracy and promoting effective governance.
He encouraged Lamido to focus on resolving the internal challenges of the PDP instead of disseminating unfounded allegations.
The statement read, “Ganduje predicted that the PDP will go into extinction by the end of 2025, based on the internal squabbles in the party.
“It is evident to any discerning observer that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC continues to gain momentum, with prominent political figures across the country defecting to the party in large numbers.
“With such overwhelming national support, the APC remains focused on consolidating its achievements and preparing for a resounding victory in the 2027 general elections.
“In fact we will soon receive Sule Lamido because very soon he won’t have where to go, the PDP is dead.”
