Yemi Alade Explains Why She May Never Collaborate With Tiwa Savage

Popular Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade, has finally spoken about the long-speculated collaboration with fellow music star, Tiwa Savage, saying fans should not expect it anytime soon.

In an interview on the #WithChude show, the Johnny crooner said she has always been a strong advocate for female empowerment in the music industry, adding that she has worked with several women artists across Africa and beyond.

“I’ve had collaborations with Omawumi, with Waje, even with Seyi Shay. I’ve had collaborations with a lot of African female artists around the world,” she said.

“I’m a big champion for female collaborations.”

However, when asked about a potential joint project with Tiwa Savage, a collaboration fans have been clamouring for, Yemi Alade made it clear she would rather avoid unnecessary tension.

“I know that the fan-favorite collaboration is the one you mentioned,” she said with a smile.

“I’d rather just stay clear. I don’t want problems in my life. I don’t want problems.”

Her statement immediately sparked mixed reactions online, with fans interpreting her response as a subtle hint that there might be friction between the two Afrobeats queens.

Yemi, however, clarified that her decision has nothing to do with any personal rift, but rather with how fans and sections of the media tend to create tension between female entertainers.

“You know the thing is that fans and media just tend to stir the water where the water is supposed to be still,” she explained.

The singer, who has often been pitted against Tiwa Savage by fan bases over the years, said she prefers to maintain peace and stay focused on her career.

“I’d rather just exist and not try to make something out of nothing,” she added.

For years, fans have called for a collaboration between Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage, two of Nigeria’s biggest female Afrobeats exports. Both artists have dominated the African music scene with chart-topping hits and international recognition.

However, their careers have often been compared, with fan bases occasionally fuelling rumours of rivalry between the two singers. Despite the speculations, neither artiste has publicly confirmed any personal feud.

Yemi Alade’s latest remarks appear to be her clearest response yet, choosing peace over pressure and hinting that she has no interest in feeding social media controversies.

While some fans expressed disappointment that the much-anticipated collaboration might never happen, others applauded Yemi Alade’s maturity in choosing peace over public drama.

The singer, known for her energetic performances and global appeal, continues to expand her international reach, having recently completed a world tour and hinted at new music projects in 2025.

“At the end of the day, we are all doing our thing and representing African music in our own ways. I’m focused on that,” she said in closing.
