2027: There Will Be A Meeting This Week – Obidient Movement Speaks On Peter Obi Leaving LP For SDP

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, has confirmed that Peter Obi, continues to be a member of the Labour Party, countering rumors regarding his potential defection.
Recall that the former Governor of Anambra State was the presidential candidate of the Labour Party during the 2023 general elections.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief program on Monday, Tanko rejected assertions that Obi has switched to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), labeling these claims as baseless.
He stressed that the Labour Party’s leadership will hold a meeting soon to clarify some speculations and make its stance in light of the recent Supreme Court decision that removed Julius Abure from his position as the party’s national chairman.
“As I speak to you right now, there is going to be a meeting possibly within the week by the leaders of the party to make fundamental positions clear to everyone, and in line with the position of the Supreme Court ruling and that of course will put the whole matter to rest,” he said.
Tanko insisted that Obi has not left the Labour Party, adding, “As far as I am concerned, His Excellency Peter Obi is a member of the Labour Party. It remains so until when there is any other thing that may come up.”
Tanko’s submission follows a statement by the former SDP presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, who claimed that Obi and former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are in talks with the SDP ahead of a possible defection.
