2027 Will Be My Final Presidential Bid – Atiku
Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that his anticipated bid for the presidency in 2027 will be his final attempt to lead Nigeria.
Atiku, who has contested for the nation’s top office multiple times, made this known during an interview on ARISE Television.
Responding to a question on whether his age would influence his decision, the former vice-president said the 2027 election would likely mark the end of his presidential pursuits.
“Certainly yes, because the stakes are higher and I believe that will be my last outing,” he said.
The chieftain of the African Democratic Congress noted that while he remains committed to Nigeria’s progress, political realities and time would make 2027 his final shot at the presidency.
Atiku stressed the need for experienced leadership to navigate the country through its current challenges.
He also urged opposition leaders and stakeholders to put aside personal ambitions and work together to build a formidable coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress.
According to him, unity within the opposition remains critical to achieving political change in the country.
The former vice-president expressed concern over the state of the nation, citing economic difficulties, insecurity, and governance challenges.
He maintained that Nigeria urgently requires bold reforms and inclusive policies to unlock its full potential.
Atiku, who served as vice-president between 1999 and 2007, has remained one of the most consistent contenders in Nigeria’s presidential elections.
His declaration signals what could be a defining moment in his long-standing political career as the country gradually builds momentum towards the 2027 general elections.
