DSS Storms SERAP Abuja Office

The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 personnel as part of its ongoing internal reforms aimed at strengthening discipline, professionalism, and integrity within the agency.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the DSS said the dismissals were carried out “over a period of time” and formed part of broader efforts to sanitise the Service and uphold the highest ethical standards among its ranks.

According to the DSS, the exercise reflects its renewed commitment to accountability and zero tolerance for corruption.

“The dismissals occurred over a period of time and formed part of the Service’s broader efforts to rid the organisation of misconduct and corruption,” the statement read.

The agency, however, clarified that the move was not politically motivated but was the outcome of internal disciplinary processes aimed at restoring public trust.

The Service also issued a stern warning to Nigerians to be wary of dismissed officers who continue to impersonate DSS personnel to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement said.

The agency cautioned citizens against engaging in any form of official dealings with the affected individuals, noting that their names and details have been published on the DSS official website for public awareness.

The DSS urged Nigerians to report any suspicious activity or impersonation to its nearest command office, adding that the Service would not hesitate to prosecute offenders found guilty of misrepresentation.

It reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, professionalism, and public confidence as key pillars of its operational mandate.

“The DSS remains committed to national security and will continue to ensure that only officers of proven integrity are retained within its structure,” the statement added.

The latest dismissal comes amid a wider campaign by the Service to reposition itself as a transparent, accountable, and citizen-focused security agency.
