Give Service Chiefs Three Months or Sack Them - Pastor Adeboye Urges Tinubu

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised the Federal Government to urgently wipe out terrorists and their sponsors as the United States considers possible military action in Nigeria.

Adeboye issued the warning on Friday during the November Holy Ghost Service while reacting to recent comments by US President Donald Trump, who had raised concerns about deadly attacks on Christians in Nigeria.

“This is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem, it started before him,” he said.

Adeboye urged President Bola Tinubu to give the newly appointed service chiefs a three-month ultimatum to dismantle terrorist networks across the country.

He added that any failure to meet the target should result in their resignation.

He recalled giving a similar counsel to former President Muhammadu Buhari at the height of Boko Haram attacks.

“Some of you will remember who called the service chiefs together and said, ‘I give you three months, get rid of all these Boko Haram people or resign.’ It’s not allowed to tell you who gave him that advice,” he said.

According to him, Buhari acted on the advice initially, but never followed through.

“Three months went by, and the work was not done. So I went to see him… Unfortunately, like I said, he’s not alive now. I would have asked you to go and ask him, ‘Sir, why didn’t you follow through?’”

Adeboye said any new directive to security chiefs should be explicit and uncompromising.

He advised that the order should not only mandate the elimination of terrorists but also their financiers, regardless of their “influence or connections”.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists but also their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he warned.

The cleric cautioned that if the United States decides to launch a military operation in Nigeria, no major world power will intervene on the country’s behalf.

“When I say our leaders should move fast, move diplomatically, and move wisely, we must take note of the fact that if America should attack us, China is not coming to defend us. Russia will not come to defend us,” he said.

“All the so-called world leaders will talk… Britain is not going to come and help us. No other foreign power will come to our aid.”

He stressed that the crisis had gone beyond political debates.

“This is not the time for joking. This is not the time for drama. This is not the time for semantics… Innocent people are dying,” he stated.

Adeboye advised President Tinubu to urgently reach out to Trump diplomatically and request a 100-day window to tackle Nigeria’s security crisis.

He said that once Tinubu receives the concession, the President must issue a clear marching order to the service chiefs to end the insurgency within 90 days.

“Let the government use diplomatic methods to convince President Trump to give us 100 days of grace. All our service chiefs, fortunately, are new, should perform within three months, or resign,” he added.

Adeboye’s comments follow Trump’s strong statement last Friday on his Truth Social platform, where he claimed that Christianity in Nigeria faces an “existential threat” from radical Islamist groups.

Trump vowed that the United States “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening,” adding that his administration would be “ready, willing and able to protect our great Christian population around the world.”

He also instructed lawmakers, including Congressman Riley Moore and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, to investigate the situation and report back to him.
