Stakeholders Seal Decision, To Hold PDP National Convention In Ibadan
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Convention Planning Committee and Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has reaffirmed that the party’s elective national convention will hold in Ibadan as scheduled.
Fintiri made the disclosure on Thursday night while addressing journalists after a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
The meeting drew key party figures, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, and former Minister Tanimu Turaki, among others.
Speaking briefly, Fintiri said the gathering reviewed crucial issues and reached firm decisions on the way forward.
“We’ve just come out of our critical stakeholders’ meeting where a lot of elaborate decisions were taken,” he said.
He added emphatically, “I want to tell you here that we are going to Ibadan for our convention, and the convention is sacrosanct.”
Attempts by journalists to press the governor for clarification on internal party tensions and court orders affecting the convention were unsuccessful, as his security aides swiftly escorted him away from the venue.
The PDP has been under intense pressure in recent days, with conflicting court rulings and internal divisions raising questions over the viability of the planned convention.
Despite these challenges, Fintiri’s declaration signals the leadership’s resolve to push ahead with the exercise in Ibadan.
