‘Nothing Troubles Me More Gravely Than the Crisis in the North’ - President Tinubu

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday declared that Nigeria is taking historic and concrete steps to confront the country’s worsening insecurity and restore national stability.

The party spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, in a statement he personally signed, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a State of Emergency on Security marks a bold security reset that signals zero tolerance for terrorism, sabotage and criminality.

Oladejo took a swipe at unnamed opposition voices, describing them as “empty talkers masquerading as statesmen,” while insisting that the President is advancing strategic, far-reaching capacity at home.

“Unlike the empty talkers masquerading as statesmen, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking concrete, historic steps to secure Nigeria and restore national stability,” Oladejo said.

“He has declared a State of Emergency on Security – a bold, unprecedented move that signals zero tolerance for terror, sabotage, and criminality,” he added.

His statement hailed the President’s approval for the recruitment of 20,000 new police officers, calling it part of the biggest security workforce expansion in recent memory.

Oladejo said the new recruitment order will bring the total fresh police intake under Tinubu’s administration to 50,000, a number he described as “extraordinary and historic.”

“He has approved the recruitment of an additional 20,000 new police officers, bringing the total fresh intake under his administration to an extraordinary 50,000 personnel – the single largest security expansion in recent history,” the statement read.

“These are not cosmetic gestures. These are strategic, far-reaching actions by a President who refuses to surrender one inch of Nigerian territory to terrorists or their political sponsors,” Oladejo said.

The Lagos APC spokesman further described the recruitment spree as the single largest security expansion drive in Nigeria’s recent history, noting that it represents “strengthened capacity, not cosmetic rhetoric.”

“He strengthens Nigeria at home. He won’t surrender one inch of Nigerian territory to terrorists,” Oladejo reiterated.

He added that the current recruit spree is the single largest security reinforcement in modern political memory.

“While the opposition sells fear, President Tinubu delivers capacity,” the party said.

Backing his claims, Oladejo said recent developments show the President has taken decisive, bold actions against rising threats.

“Capacity, not cosmetics,” the statement emphasized.

He concluded by restating that Nigeria’s territorial integrity will never be negotiated under the Tinubu administration.

“Zero territory will be lost to terrorists,” Oladejo quoted, affirming that Nigeria will remain united and secured.
