Atiku, El-Rufai, Tambuwal Meet Buhari Behind Closed-doors

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, along with Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, and Aminu Tambuwal, the former Governor of Sokoto State, met behind closed-doors on Friday with former President Muhammadu Buhari at his home in Kaduna State.
Atiku, who was the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the previous general elections led the political bigwigs to meet the immediate former President.
This meeting was reported by Imran Wakili, a dedicated supporter of El-Rufai, through a post on X.
He wrote: “Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, together with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Aminu Tambuwal, and other dignitaries, visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna residence.
“El-Rufai’s endless respect for Buhari is priceless, even with the best effort of Garba Shehu.”
In a separate post, Atiku wrote: “As the Waziri Adamawa, I was obligated to be in Adamawa during the Sallah celebrations. I held forth for the Lamido Fombina (Adamawa) in some of the activities of the Sallah celebrations. Today, I had the opportunity to pay a post-Sallah visit to His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2015-2023. It was a wonderful time with him. As usual, he cracked me up (to the extent that my ribs were hurting) with his peculiar humour.”
At the same time, Atiku, El-Rufai, and Tambuwal arrived in Kaduna State to engage with opposition leaders there.
Atiku, El-Rufai, and Peter Obi from the Labour Party have united to form a coalition aimed at ousting President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Atiku revealed the establishment of this coalition during a press conference held by a group called Concerned Leaders and Political Stakeholders in Nigeria.
In response to this announcement, Adewale Adebayo, a former presidential candidate from the Social Democratic Party, indicated that Atiku and Obi were in discussions about potentially joining the SDP.
He asserted that if Atiku, Obi, and other influential politicians willing to align with the SDP adhere to the party’s principles, they could successfully defeat and retire Tinubu and the APC.
Additionally, Buba Galadima, a leader within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), remarked that El-Rufai could serve as Atiku’s stand-in within the SDP if the PDP were to withhold its presidential nomination from him.
