Ex-President, Buhari Travels To UK For Medical Check-ups

Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, is currently in the United Kingdom for medical check-ups.

Buhari disclosed this while stating his reason for missing the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which took place in Lagos on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

In a letter directed to President Bola Tinubu, the former President extended his congratulations to the regional organization on the milestone of its 50th anniversary, while expressing his regret for not being able to participate in the significant celebration.

He praised the accomplishments of ECOWAS over the last fifty years, recognizing the regional body’s resilience in overcoming significant challenges.

“Regrettably, as Your Excellency is aware, I am currently in the United Kingdom undergoing routine medical check-ups and therefore, unable to attend this historic event,” Buhari wrote.
