'I Am Ready To Die For APC' - Orji Uzor Kalu

The Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu, has proclaimed his willingness to sacrifice his life to secure a victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kalu stated that he and fellow APC supporters will exert significant effort to ensure the state is delivered to President Bola Tinubu and the party.

The former governor made this announcement while speaking to journalists at his residence in Igbere, Abia State, yesterday.

He further mentioned that Tinubu’s accomplishments over the last two years are sufficient to garner the backing of Nigerians.

“APC is strong in Abia. Like I said in my interview, I am ready to lay down my life for the party. I am a member of the party and a strong one at that. I am APC to the core. That’s why APC is strong in Abia North.

“Our party will work hard to deliver the President in the state. We have done it in the past, and we will do it again in 2027,” Kalu said.

The former Senate Chief Whip further expressed confidence that Nigeria’s economy would bounce back because Tinubu is working hard to make the naira regain its value.

Conversely, seasoned journalist and politician, Dele Momodu, has dismissed the possibility of switching to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stated that if he intended to join the APC, he would be making excuses similar to those of other politicians who attempt to rationalise their defection from one party to another.

During an interview with Channels Television Morning Brief on Wednesday, Chief Momodu claimed that certain politicians are keen on joining the APC but lack the courage to proceed, as they are still considering their options.

Momodu further mentioned that he is not contemplating any defection, emphasising that he cannot affiliate with a party where one individual issues commands to adults as if he were the lord of the manor.

“I definitely won’t join APC, that one is out of the question. If I wanted to join the APC, I wouldn’t be speaking to you the way I am this morning. I’ll be giving excuses like everyone else who wants to join but is not bold enough to say so because they are weighing their options. I am not weighing any option, my soul is totally out of it, I cannot sit in a room where one man will dictate to able bodied adults who have worked all their lives and say that he is the Lord of the manor, I will not be in that room,” Momodu submitted.
