MakeMation: Lagos Unveils Africa’s Inaugural AI Feature Film

Makemation – Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government of Lagos State has officially announced the premiere of Africa’s inaugural Tech/AI-themed feature film.
A statement released on Sunday by the Governor revealed that the film will be available in cinemas throughout Nigeria beginning Easter Weekend, specifically on April 18, 2025.
“Makemation” is distinguished as Africa’s first feature film that emphasizes the burgeoning influence of its youth, particularly young women, illustrating their use of artificial intelligence and technological advancements to address some of the continent’s most urgent issues.
This coming-of-age drama offers an emotional, insightful, and humorous exploration of the life of a young girl from a disadvantaged community in Lagos. Her path is filled with challenges, yet she remains intelligent, resolute, and unstoppable.
The film combines entertainment with a universal message of hope, demonstrating how innovation can serve as a catalyst for change, transforming poverty from a persistent problem into a relic of the past.
