Notorious Bandit Kingpin, Bello Turji Slashes Levy Imposed On Zamfara Village From N50m To N30m

Residents of Moriki town in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State have successfully persuaded notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, to lower the ransom he set from N50 million to N30 million, with a payment deadline established for Wednesday.

Reports obtained by journalists during the weekend revealed that this amount is intended as compensation for the loss of Turji’s cattle, which were reportedly killed by the new commander of the Army base located in Moriki.

Each head of a household have been mandated to contribute N10,000, while unmarried individuals are required to pay N2,000.

However, despite the commander’s counsel against making the payment and his assurance that he would not harm Turji’s livestock again, the villagers are moving forward with the payment.

Daily Post quoted sources to have indicated that the community is apprehensive that failing to comply with Turji’s demands could result in further violent reprisals, leaving them vulnerable to his aggression.

Additionally, it has been reported that approximately fifteen local politicians and social activists remain in Turji’s captivity, having been abducted from Moriki despite the presence of military personnel in the area.
