The government of the United Arab Emirates, UAE, has officially removed the Visa ban that had been placed on Nigerians, starting right away.

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced this development on Monday during a briefing with reporters from State House following a meeting of the Federal Executive Council chaired by President Bola Tinubu.

Idris disclosed that an agreement had been reached between the Federal Government and the authorities in the UAE to end the travel barriers that had been in place for Nigerians.

He informed the public that Nigerians holding passports can now travel to the UAE without facing any obstacles.

Additionally, Idris encouraged Nigerians looking for information on the new visa requirements for the UAE to visit documentverificationhub.ae for more information.

“Details of that will be provided to you later today when we put out a statement.”

It could be recalled that the UAE implemented a visa restriction on Nigeria due to multiple diplomatic conflicts.

It’s worth noting that the UAE placed a visa ban on Nigeria just over two years back due to various diplomatic disagreements.

Moreover, Emirates Airlines from Dubai stopped its flights to Nigeria because the Central Bank of Nigeria failed to return an anticipated $85 million in earnings to the UAE.

In June, after numerous discussions with the UAE’s authorities, the Federal Government of Nigeria promised Nigerians that the visa ban would be lifted shortly.

Around the same time, the Nigerian government declared that it had settled 98 per cent of the $850 million debt.
