NCAA Blacklists K1 De Ultimate Over Airport Altercation

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has blacklisted popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, following his disruptive conduct at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday.

The incident reportedly began when K1 De Ultimate, who was boarding a ValueJet flight to Lagos, refused to comply with an instruction to board with a liquid substance that was suspected to be alcohol. The altercation led to a breach of safety protocols, with the airline’s flight crew attempting to depart without completing the necessary pre-departure checks.

As a result, the NCAA suspended the two pilots involved in the incident while further investigations were conducted.

During a conversation with newsmen at the 29th Annual Conference of the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents in Lagos, the Director of Public Relations and Consumer Affairs of the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, confirmed that K1 De Ultimate had been officially blacklisted.

“Everybody who needs to be punished or sanctioned will receive justice,” Achimugu stated. He revealed that the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police have been informed and are in the process of pursuing a court case against the musician for his actions.

“Many people might not want to believe that this particular passenger was blacklisted because he was close to the presidency, but no one is above the law,” he added.

Achimugu emphasized that both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, are strong proponents of the rule of law.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, if you know him well, is a respecter of the law. And so is the Honorable Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo. Both of them submit themselves to security checks at every airport worldwide,” he said.

He further clarified that no Nigerian is above the law, regardless of their status or connections.

As a result of the blacklisting, K1 De Ultimate may be prevented from flying on any airline until the sanction is lifted, as reported by Daily Trust. The NCAA’s firm stance on the matter signals their commitment to enforcing aviation safety and upholding regulatory standards.
