ADC Denies INEC Confirmation of State Chairmen List

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed as fake news a report claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had confirmed and released a list of its state chairmen across the country.

The statement, titled “Coalition Update: INEC Confirms ADC State Chairmen Nationwide”, had been widely circulated on social media over the weekend, sparking confusion among party members and the public.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the report as the handiwork of individuals bent on sowing confusion within the ADC.

“This report is fake news, obviously engineered by individuals who have shown relentless determination to sow confusion within our party and mislead the public,” Abdullahi said.

He clarified that INEC, to the best of the party’s knowledge, had not issued any confirmation, officially or unofficially, regarding state chairmen for the ADC.

Abdullahi stressed that the constitution of state leadership in any political party lies solely within the party’s constitutional prerogative, not INEC.

He explained that INEC only recognizes lists submitted to it by the party after due internal processes have been concluded.

“As of today, no such comprehensive list has been submitted or confirmed by INEC,” he noted.

The ADC urged its members and stakeholders to remain calm and guided only by communication from the national leadership of the party.

“The strength of any political movement lies not just in its numbers, but in its discipline, structure, and fidelity to internal democracy. The ADC remains committed to these values,” Abdullahi added.

The party also advised the public to disregard the fake list in circulation, assuring that any authentic updates regarding party structure would be released through verified channels.
