Army Smashes Boko Haram Camp in Borno, Frees Dozens
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, Joint Task Force North-East, have rescued 86 kidnapped victims and arrested 29 suspected Boko Haram terrorist logistics suppliers during a series of coordinated operations in Borno State.
The Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement shared on X on Monday.
According to him, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 encountered Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents on November 9 at Dutse Kura after receiving reports that terrorists were abducting civilians and seizing vehicles along the Buratai–Kamuya Road.
He stated that the troops repelled the attack and pursued the fleeing terrorists towards Mangari, overwhelming them during a follow-up engagement near one of their camps. The insurgents were said to have fled in disarray.
A subsequent search led to the destruction of 11 makeshift terrorist structures and the rescue of 86 kidnapped men, women and children. Items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle, five magazines containing 73 rounds, four PKT ammunition belts, five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles and two logistics tricycles. The terrorists’ camp was later cleared and destroyed.
Troops Arrest 29 Logistics Suppliers
In another operation, troops deployed at Mangada intercepted and arrested 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers who were heading to Chilaria with various materials.
Uba explained that the items recovered from them included two pickup vans, a tricycle loaded with Premium Motor Spirit, about 1,000 litres of petrol in jerricans, four gallons of engine oil, two brand-new gun truck tyres, a large supply of medical consumables and significant quantities of food items and provisions.
He added that all operations were carried out successfully with no casualties recorded among the troops.
“The Military High Command commends the gallantry and professionalism of the troops while charging Operation Hadin Kai to sustain operations to deny terrorists freedom of action across the North-East theatre,” the statement read.
It was reported earlier on Sunday that the Nigerian Army had intensified nationwide offensive operations against terrorists, insurgents and economic saboteurs, recording major successes within the past 48 hours.
