President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to defeat terrorism, banditry and other forms of criminality across the country.

Tinubu said the Federal Government would not surrender to criminal groups threatening the peace, security and stability of the nation.

The President gave the assurance on Sunday through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, at the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.

The service was part of activities lined up to mark the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Akume said the administration remained committed to strengthening security operations and protecting Nigerians from violent attacks, kidnappings and other criminal activities.

“The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry or any form of criminal intimidation,” Akume said while delivering the President’s message.

He added that the protection of lives and property remained one of the top priorities of the Tinubu administration.

Tinubu said recent attacks, kidnappings and cases of displacement in some parts of the country had further shown the need for sustained and coordinated action by security agencies.

According to him, the government is working to improve the capacity of security forces to respond to threats and restore peace in troubled communities.

He said the administration would continue to support security agencies in their operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements.

The President also assured Nigerians that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of citizens still being held captive by criminal groups.

He said the Federal Government would not relent until affected communities are safer and displaced citizens are able to return to their homes.

Tinubu also acknowledged the economic challenges facing many Nigerians, particularly the impact of inflation and the cost of living.

He said the government was aware of the concerns of citizens over insecurity, economic hardship and displacement, assuring them that the administration was responding with renewed urgency.

The President noted that the government was taking steps to ease the burden on Nigerians and improve the delivery of democratic dividends.

He said his administration remained focused on policies and programmes that would strengthen the economy, protect vulnerable citizens and create a more stable environment for growth.

Tinubu said Democracy Day should serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigerians in the struggle for democratic rule and the need for leaders to remain committed to the welfare of the people.

He said the administration would continue to work toward building a country where citizens can live in peace, pursue their dreams and enjoy the benefits of democracy.

The President urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and united, stressing that the challenges facing the country could be overcome through collective commitment, patience and faith in the nation’s future.

He assured citizens that the Federal Government would continue to take difficult but necessary steps to secure the country and deliver better governance.
