Makinde-backed PDP Fixes Presidential Forms At N100m

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has released its timetable and schedule of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The faction also fixed N100m as the total amount to be paid by aspirants seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election on its platform.

The amount comprises N10m for Expression of Interest form and N90m for Nomination form.

The details were contained in a statement issued on Monday and signed by the party’s Organising Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan.

According to the timetable, the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for all elective offices will begin on Tuesday, May 5, and end on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The party fixed Thursday, May 14, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of completed forms by aspirants.

The statement added that the screening of aspirants would hold from Friday, May 15, to Monday, May 18, 2026, while appeals arising from the screening exercise would be heard on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The publication of all cleared aspirants has been scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026.

The PDP faction said ward primaries for all elective offices would hold on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

It also fixed Thursday, May 28, 2026, for appeals arising from all primaries.

According to the timetable, the National Executive Committee meeting to approve all nominated candidates will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026.

A special national convention for the ratification of candidates has also been scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, in a separate statement on Monday, confirmed that the party had considered and approved the timetable for its pre-election activities.

The schedule released by the party showed that presidential aspirants would pay N10m for Expression of Interest form and N90m for Nomination form, bringing the total to N100m.

Governorship aspirants are to pay N5m for Expression of Interest form and N35m for Nomination form, amounting to N40m.

For senatorial aspirants, the party fixed N3m for Expression of Interest form and N7m for Nomination form, making a total of N10m.

Aspirants for the House of Representatives are to pay N2m for Expression of Interest form and N5m for Nomination form, while those seeking seats in the state Houses of Assembly will pay N500,000 for Expression of Interest form and N1.5m for Nomination form.

The party said women aspirants would not pay for Nomination forms.

According to the details released, female aspirants are only required to pay for Expression of Interest forms for the offices they intend to contest.

The faction also announced concessions for youths and persons living with disabilities, saying they would pay 50 per cent of the Nomination form fees for their chosen offices.

The development comes as political parties continue preparations for the 2027 general elections, with internal timetables expected to shape the emergence of candidates across elective positions.
