Easter Celebration: FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays

The Federal Government has officially designated Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays in observance of the Christian celebrations of Good Friday and Easter Monday, which commemorate the themes of sacrifice and resurrection.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, announced this decision on Tuesday on behalf of the Federal Government, offering warm congratulations to Christians nationwide on this significant occasion.

He highlighted the importance of embracing the values of sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ, who died for humanity’s redemption.

In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged Nigerians to utilize the holiday period for prayers aimed at promoting peace, unity, and stability within the nation.

He reassured the public of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s steadfast dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to encourage national growth and development.
