Following the devastating flood incident in Borno State, Northern Nigeria, the state government led by Governor Babagana Zulum, has provided a progress report on the commitments made by individuals, organizations and the actual contributions received for the relief efforts.

According to the government, contributors range from the wealthiest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, to Aminu Dantata, a prominent business leader, Peter Obi, the candidate for the 2023 Labour Party Presidency, Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidency, various individuals, eight different states, and various non-governmental organizations.

These contributions were intended to assist the millions of people impacted by the devastating floods in Maiduguri, which is the capital of Borno State.

This information was shared in a report on the pledges and the actual contributions received for the relief efforts in Maiduguri, dated Wednesday, September 18, 2024, and signed by Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, the Senior Special Assistant for New Media to Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.

The report highlighted the list of pledges and the actual contributions received from various sources, including corporate entities, state and federal government officials, individuals, and non-governmental organizations.

“Kindly note that not all amounts listed were credited to the Maiduguri Relief Fund for the Borno State Government. Similarly, details of the redeemed pledges of donations and material support will be announced in due course,” the statement added.
