Ondo Assembly Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader Resign

The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Abayomi Akinruntan, has stepped down from his position.
Akinruntan, who serves as the representative for Ilaje Constituency 1, indicated that his decision was motivated by the necessity to maintain the traditional zoning system for elective offices within the state.
In a related development, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo Constituency 1, also resigned from his position, in accordance with the same political principle.
Following Akinruntan’s resignation, Ololade Gbegudu, who represents Okitipupa Constituency 2, was inaugurated as the new Deputy Speaker.
Similarly, Olatunji Oshati, representing Ose Constituency, was appointed as the new Majority Leader, taking over from Ogunmolasuyi.
In additional leadership transitions within the Assembly, Muritala Sulaimon, representing Akoko South East Constituency, was designated as the new Chief Whip, while Hon. Olatunji Fabiyi of Odigbo Constituency 1 took on the role of Whip.
The Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, praised the former Deputy Speaker and Majority Leader for their commitment, integrity, and service to the citizens of the state.

Akinruntan is from Ilaje Local Government Area, which is also the home of the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Meanwhile, Ogunmolasuyi hails from Owo Local Government Area, the same locality as the Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami.
