BREAKING Osun Confirms Arrest Of Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad Boss
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has mandated the immediate arrest and prosecution of Moses Lohor, the Head of the Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad in the state, along with his team, for attempted murder.
This information was corroborated by Samuel Ojo, the Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Security, in a statement issued by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, following a private meeting with the Governor and the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba.
DAILY POST recalls that tensions escalated when operatives from the Osun State Police Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad, under the leadership of Moses Lohor, allegedly shot Wakeel Nurudeen Iyanda Alowonle, the Chairman of the Osun State Transport Management System, on Monday night.
The police have claimed that Alowonle was shot after he allegedly attempted to flee arrest when a firearm and ammunition were discovered in his vehicle.
In a related development, the state government, through a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, has suggested that the shooting of Alowonle may constitute a case of suspected murder.
The statement on Wednesday said, “Moses Lohor had shot Alowonle in the abdomen at the police station after his arrest over a domestic brawl with a neighbour. The park chairman is currently on life support at the Intensive Care Unit of the Osun State Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.”
Ojo reported that the police authorities considered Moses’ actions to be unprofessional, unlawful, unauthorized, and in violation of the operational code.
