Court Strikes Out Suit Seeking Ganduje’s Removal As APC Chairman

A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a lawsuit aimed at removing former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, from his present position as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the case on several grounds.

The Northern Central APC Group had brought Ganduje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the court, seeking to annul Ganduje’s appointment on the basis of significant violations of the party’s Constitution.

The group argued that Ganduje’s appointment contravened Article 13 of the APC Constitution, as it was not conducted through the democratic process mandated by the party’s regulations.

Justice Ekwo determined that the APC North Central Group is not a legally recognized entity and lacks the legal standing to initiate the lawsuit.

The judge further noted that the plaintiffs did not utilize the internal mechanisms available for the peaceful resolution of disputes prior to approaching the court.

Moreover, Justice Ekwo asserted that the appointment of officers within the APC by its National Executive Committee is an internal matter of the party, which is beyond the jurisdiction of the court.
