List Of Opposition Governors That May Join APC In Coming Weeks

The National Vice Chairman (Southeast) of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ijeoma Arodiogbu, has revealed that a number of sitting governors from the opposition may be on their way to the ruling party within the next two months.
According to him, governors from Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau, Kano, and one of either Abia or Enugu states are already in talks to defect to the APC, a move he said would further strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
“In the next two months, we expect the governors of Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau, Kano, and either Abia or Enugu to join the APC,” Arodiogbu disclosed.
Arodiogbu also dismissed the reported formation of a mega opposition coalition as nothing more than a media creation, describing it as lacking in substance and unity of purpose.
“That so-called opposition coalition is merely a media stunt. Most of the major players in Nigerian politics are more comfortable staying with the APC, where they can actually influence governance,” he said.
He noted that the internal dynamics within the APC remain more appealing to most political actors compared to the uncertainty surrounding the proposed opposition alliance.
In a surprising twist, the APC chieftain hinted at the possibility of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, defecting to the ruling party in the near future.

Although he did not give details, Arodiogbu suggested that conversations were ongoing, adding that the political atmosphere in the South-West could change rapidly in the coming months.
On the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, the APC chieftain said, “On Adeleke, I can’t give a definitive answer, but I know he has made moves.
“We’re not ruling out Governor Alex Otti of Abia or the Enugu State governor either.”
Arodiogbu’s comments come amid increasing political manoeuvrings across party lines as key players begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The coalition, which was birthed a few months ago and includes eminent Nigerians, is believed to be weighing up its options on the political party to adopt.
