Police Denies Arresting Hundreds Of Boko Haram Terrorists In Lagos

Boko Haram in Lagos – The Lagos State command of the Nigeria Police Force has refuted a report published by Punch Newspaper on April 17, 2025, which claimed that numerous Boko Haram suspects had been apprehended in Lagos.

In response to this publication, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, ordered an immediate investigation to verify the accuracy of the allegations.

The police force stated that the investigation’s findings indicate that there have been no sightings, arrests, or any presence of the group referred to in the report—Boko Haram—anywhere in Lagos State.

Additionally, leaders, operators, and drivers from the trailer park communities mentioned in the report informed the police that no individuals associated with Boko Haram had been observed or detained in those areas.

“The Command, notwithstanding, deployed surveillance police detectives, the Lagos State Police Intelligence Department (SID), and other formations of the Force to the mentioned places for the purpose of verification of the claim. No one confirmed the presence or arrest of such group members as reported in the write-up throughout Lagos State.

“Therefore, the report in its entirety is false, malicious, and ill-intended to cause fear and apprehension in the minds of the public. Lagosians are thereby enjoined to disregard and discountenance the write-up as untrue and a figment of the imagination of the writer which is very unfortunate and despicable and should be outrightly ignored,” the force statement noted.

The Commissioner of Police has urged the residents of Lagos State to carry out their daily activities and pursue their livelihoods without fear or anxiety.
